About Us
Nashville’s Distinctively Different Florist - (Kimmy’s Flowers) - was originally founded by Nashville native - Bruce Eastman in February 2006.
Bruce had always been drawn to nature and the earth. Growing up with a backyard garden, he spent many summers working along side his Mom, Dad, two brothers and older sister, weeding the garden, breaking and canning beans and appreciating the God who created it all.
After college, Bruce moved into Corporate America and worked as General Manager for Service Merchandise and OfficeMax for over twelve years. He was the guy setting the pace, always helpful and usually smiling, no matter what the task at hand.
Although he loved his work (especially his contact with the public), something was missing. Those long hours working inside, were taking their toll and Bruce missed the great outdoors. He had long felt the desire to take the entrepreneurial plunge, leave Corporate America and work on his own.
With his extensive customer service experience, grounded appreciation for the earth and a sincere heart for helping others, Bruce decided to leave his full-time job and start his own business. But he didn’t want just any business. He wanted one that was a true fit for his sensitivity to the needs and feelings of others, his strong ethical and family oriented beliefs and his intense love of nature.
Bruce received the inspiration that he asked for and began selling a product that helped him connect with people on a heart-to-heart level. Whether for a funeral, wedding, graduation, or other life changing event, Bruce could be there offering the one thing that touched people’s hearts the most – Flowers!
His new business truly fit his personality and style. It also gave him the freedom to move about in the sun and work intimately with the plants and natural elements (where he felt most at home).
When asked for his favorite quote, Bruce cited Harold Whitman:
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
Bruce was not only a lover of nature, but of his loving wife – Kim. He wanted to honor her with something special and show his appreciation for her support – so the idea of “Kimmy’s Flowers” was born. Today, you can find Kim handling the administrative details while Bruce handles the marketing side of the business.
